Everyone Autodesk has announced the release of Autodesk Inventor 2009 today publically. I have been using the beta for a few months now and haven been waiting to talk about it with you. The more I use it the more I find but as of today my top two new items are as follows:
1. Assembly Substitutes
Provides the ability to substitute a part out to represent an assembly as a single part. Also you could swap one part out for another simpler part. This will be huge for large assembly operations.
2. Native 64 Bit Support
No more 3GB memory barrier!!! Autodesk will ship a 32 bit and 64 bit version of the software.
Here are a few other new features that I think are very helpful.
Sheet Metal Styles
Control all of your sheet metal style settings within the standard Inventor styles library framework.
iPart Authoring of Sheet Metal Parts
Create iPart families of related sheet metal parts.
ASM Simple Tearing
Bend plates without a separation notch.
Crop View
Ability to crop a drawing view with a sketch outline our standard shapes
Center of Gravity
Display and use the center of gravity within a drawing as a center mark. Also there is now a center of gravity glyph within the modeling environment.
Custom iProperty Formatting
Set custom formats to control units, formats, and precision on iProperty and parameter values. Also you can suppress the units and leading and trailing spaces.
Dynamic Simulation export to Inventor Studio
You can now export your simulation mot
Lights and Camera Paths within Inventor Studio
You can now create local lights and animate lights. Plus you can create your own user defined camera paths.
New DWF Publishing Features
Inventor 2009 using the new DWFx format by default and also provides several new options for publishing DWF file which will greatly help with Autodesk Vault and Productstream.
Task Scheduler Multi Process Support
The task scheduler application takes advantage of multi-process support – faster!
